Finance Minister announced for setting up the university in budget 2014-15 with a budgetary provision of Rs. 100 Crore. However, no progress has been made in this regard. In fact, in an answer to Parliamentary question in November 2015, the then Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani responded by clarifying that there is no proposal by the BJP government to set up a Central University dedicated to the Himalayan Technology.
Since a mere announcement in the absence of any progress on action which has later been denied by the Minister In-Charge, the promise is considered “Broken”.
