Inadequate Progress

Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) was launched by the UPA government to integrate all the schemes on horticulture. National Mission on Horticulture, launched under UPA, has been allocated Rs. 2300 crores in 2017-18, up from Rs. 1600 crores in 2016-17. However, no data of beneficiaries is available.

Under MIDH, financial assistance is also provided for Beekeeping for pollination and Floriculture. The BJP government increased the FDI limit for Pisciculture, Aquaculture, Apiculture to 100% in 2016.

However, the horticulture production of the country rose marginally by 0.3% from 286 million tonnes in 2015-16 to 287 million tonnes in 2016-17.
