Flagship Promises

Electricity Bills to be reduced by half

Fulfilled

By Shriram

Kejriwal led government launched a Subsidy scheme in 2015, under which 50% subsidy is provided for power bills of consumers consuming up to 400 units of electricity. The budget for this scheme is increased from Rs 1443 crores in 2015-16 to Rs 1600 crores in 2017-18.  The upper bound threshold for availing subsidies is high enough to include 80 percent of households qualify for a 50 per cent taxpayer subsidy benefiting them. This makes Delhi to have the least price per unit when compared with the other states. There has been no increase in price hike since the AAP government took office in February 2015.

Clearly, the promise has been fulfilled
