Evolve a national network of specialized universities having expertise in complementary domains – like Forensics, Arbitration, IPR, International Law, etc.

Inadequate Progress

The Ministry of Home Affairs approved a project proposal from State Government of Gujarat for upgrading of Gujarat Forensic Science University at Gandhinagar, Gujarat at a total cost of Rs.300.00 crore (with Central Government assistance of Rs.180.00 crore and State Government share of Rs.120.00 crore) under the scheme for ‘Modernization of Police Force’.

In 2016, the 81st report of the department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Personnel, Public Grievances, Law and Justice recommended for creation of Department of International Law. However, no such proposal is under the consideration of the government.

The Union Cabinet has approved the National Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Policy on 12th May, 2016. It aims at creating awareness about IPR’s through workshops and also establish IP facilitation centers at University clusters.

Progress has been made in this promise however, a national network of specialized universities is not yet in place. The promise therefore is classified under “Inadequate Progress”.
